“Polychromatic Voices: Translation in Performance” is a multilingual multimodal theatre incorporating songs, dances, visual art, and technology that envisions innovative and impactful storytelling. The script is composed of the poem cycle Yorick interspersed with translations in over twenty languages and dialects, including  Hindi, Hokkien, Korean, Sinhala, Portuguese, Persian, Bengali, Ukrainian, Arabic, Spanish, Japanese, Ga, French, Turkish, Italian, Malayalam, Jamaican Patois, Cantonese, Mandarin, Tamil, Hebrew, and English. 

The project is a response to the presentation of blackness and whiteness in the "fine" arts. It is an alternative proposal to the overemphasis on race and racial identity through the journey with Yorick, the beloved skull from Shakespearean classics, and the Raven, the abused token and slighted reminder of biases. The event is co-sponsored by the Multicultural Resource Center (MRC), Broome County Arts Council, Tompkins Community Arts Partnership, Wegmans Food Market, Anderson Center for the Performing Arts, as well as departments, and student associations at SUNY Binghamton, with Yangzhou (Yao) Bian as the producer, director, author, choregrapher, and dance soloist.
